One of America's most famous boardwalks, the Ocean City's Boardwalk was simply a wooden walkway when it was first built in 1902. The Ocean City Boardwalk was originally funded by local hoteliers as a way to draw visitors to the town and later expanded to a permanent promenade in 1910. In the 1920s, the boardwalk in Ocean City was expanded all the way out to 15th street. Then after a storm in 1962, the Ocean City Boardwalk was extended to its current size, which reaches to 27th street. Today, the Ocean City, Maryland boardwalk is dotted with fascinating museums and places of interest.
