One of America's most famous boardwalks, the Ocean City's Boardwalk was simply a wooden walkway when it was first built in 1902. The Ocean City Boardwalk was originally funded by local hoteliers as a way to draw visitors to the town and later expanded to a permanent promenade in 1910. In the 1920s, the boardwalk in Ocean City was expanded all the way out to 15th street. Then after a storm in 1962, the Ocean City Boardwalk was extended to its current size, which reaches to 27th street.
